Whether one believes it or not, the disease in question is caused as a result of a sore throat. It may be tonsillitis/pharyngitis, or both. However, not all cases of sore throat cause this serious disease of the kidneys. It only occurs when the sore throat takes place due to the invasion of a specific bacteria called group A beta-haemolytc streptococcus. This bacteria does not directly involve the kidneys, but it remains confined in the throat, and the disease manifests itself after 1-3 weeks after the subsiding of the sore throat.

Pharyngitis (an inflamed or sore throat) is an infection that has a fairly typical set of symptoms associated with it although it can be caused by many different organisms. Children with sore throats almost always have: painful swallowing; neck soreness in the glands right under the jaw; decreased eating, especially of salty or "sharp" food; and decreased drinking, especially of acidic drinks like juice. A small child with a sore throat will push her bottle away, often crying as she refuses to drink. A sore throat can also be part of an illness that includes: fever, rash, and even cold or cough symptoms.

Acute glomerulonephritis occurs one to two weeks after infection of the sky or skin with beta streptococci. Streptococci will not damage the kidney, but the antibodies will. Antibodies are generated against certain streptococci membrane components. Antigen-antibody complex travels in blood, and in glomerul it gets caught in basal membrane and cause inflammation response. Glomerular filtration membrane becomes permeable to blood proteins and blood cells, which appear in the urine. Acute glomerulonephritis is primarily a children disease, but can also affect teenagers and young people.

Familial hyperalcemia is a rare genetic medical condition that causes irregularly high levels of calcium. This disorder is often called blue diaper syndrome because young children with this condition tend to produce blue-colored urine.Several liver disorders can cause one's urine to be brown or tea-colored. Common examples of these disorders are cirrhosis and acute viral hepatitis.

Some types of strep throat are caused by the bacterium that also causes rheumatic fever. Rheumatic fever begins with a sore throat and then the individual gets a lumpy red rash on their skin, a high fever and weakness. There can be damage to the kidneys with strep glomerulonephritis or there can be damage to the heart valves which can be fatal if the heart goes into heart failure. Sometimes death occurs several years after the patient has suffered from glomerulonephritis.

Children under the age of three rarely develop streptococcus infections and most of the cases do not originate in the throat. The most exposed patients to sore throats triggered by the strep bacteria are children between 5 and 15 years of age. Most often, streptococcus infections occur during the months when children are in close contact with each other, representing late fall, winter and early spring.

Strep throat isn't considered to be a serious illness. Many people get strep throat on the premises of improper hygiene, decreased body resistance to illness, fatigue or unhealthy diet. All these factors facilitate the development of infections with the bacteria responsible for causing strep throat. Although people with a weak immune system are more likely to get strep throat, the illness can occur in healthy people too. Children and teenagers often get strep throat and due to this fact, most people think that strep throat doesn't occur in adults.

Starting a correct therapy is a necessary thing, and that is why there must be done some tests, to see exactly what infection we are dealing with. The diagnosis must be accurate and prompt. Many patients that are having streptococcal pharyngitis do not come to the doctor for treatment. They will recover as well, without antibiotic medication, but it is important to know that they will be contagious for a longer period of time, and they present an increased risk for developing complications.
